Fresh Red Chili Sauce
Fresh Red Chili Sauce is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 14 to 20 dry red chile pods, 1 to 2 c. water, 1/2 onion, chopped (optional), 1 tbsp. butter and 1 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Remove chile stems, seeds and bad spots.
Rinse chiles in cold water.
Soak chiles in cold water 1 to 2 hours, until pods are tender.
Place chile in blender with 1 to 2 cups water.
Blend chile until it resembles tomato sauce in consistency.
Saute onion in butter.
Add chile and seasoning to onion.
Simmer 1/2 hour. Makes
1 quart.
