English Muffin Loaves(Makes 2) is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 5 1/2 c. flour (spoon lightly into cup), 2 pkg. dry yeast, 1 tbsp. sugar, 2 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. baking soda, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Combine 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda.
Heat liquids until very warm (120° to 130°).
Add to dry mixture and beat well.
Stir in enough flour to make a stiff batter.
Spoon into two 8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch bread pans that have been greased and sprinkled with corn meal.
Sprinkle top with corn meal.
Cover; let rise in warm place for 45 minutes.
Bake at 400° for 25 minutes.
Remove from pans immediately and cool.
To serve, slice and toast.
Keep refrigerated.
Can be frozen.
