Deer Stew with Mushrooms
Deer Stew With Mushrooms is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 lb. venison, cut into cubes, 1/2 lb. bacon, diced, 1 tsp. paprika, 1 tsp. salt and 1/2 tsp. pepper, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Use a heavy kettle and heat bacon bits.
Add deer meat and saute with paprika until brown on all sides.
Add 3 or 4 cups boiling water.
Stir occasionally to keep meat from sticking. Cook over low heat for 2 hours.
Add potatoes and onions during last 30 minutes of cooking time. Remove meat, potatoes and onions. Keep warm.
Make a thickening of about 3 tablespoons flour and broth.
Stir into juice.
