Crostata
Crostata is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. flour, 1/4 c. sugar, 2 tbsp. shortening, 2 tbsp. lemon peel or juice and 2 or 3 apples, thinly sliced, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Make crust by combining flour, sugar, salt, butter, shortening, egg and lemon peel.
Roll out dough, keeping it at least 1/4 inch thick.
Line pie pan, having about 1-inch edge. Spread thin coat of preserves over unbaked crust.
Arrange apple slices in overlapping rings to cover the crust (one layer).
Drop several spoons of preserves over apples and spread carefully to keep apples in place.
Bake 1 hour in a 350Β° oven until crust is golden brown.
