Crackling Cornbread
Crackling Cornbread is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 c. cornmeal, 1 c. all-purpose flour, 1/3 c. sugar, 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder and 1/4 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Bring milk, 6 tablespoons of the butter and the sugar to a boil together in a medium-size saucepan.
Remove from heat.
Pour into a large mixing bowl and let cool to lukewarm (105° to 115°). Stir yeast into the milk mixture and let stand for 10 minutes. Beat 3 of the eggs well in a small bowl and stir them and the salt into the milk-and-yeast mixture.
Stir in 5 cups of the flour, one cup at a time, until you achieve a sticky dough.
