Chili
Chili is an impressive dinner. Made with 2 (16 oz.) cans tomatoes, chopped, 4 c. water, 4 lb. ground beef, 2 large onions, diced and 4 tbsp. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Brown beef and onions in shortening.
Add tomatoes, garlic, bay leaves, oregano, cumin, salt, chili powder, sugar and pepper. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer.
Cook, covered, stirring occasionally for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
Add water if chili gets too thick during cooking.
Add parsley 30 minutes before chili is ready.
Mix flour with cold water or tomato juice to form a paste and add to chili to thicken.
Stir thoroughly.
