Cheese Straws or Wafers
Cheese Straws Or Wafers is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. plain flour, 1/4 c. soft butter, 1/2 c. grated sharp cheddar cheese, pinch of cayenne pepper and 1/4 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Mix butter and flour until it is the consistency of fine breadcrumbs.
Add grated cheese, cayenne and salt.
Mix lightly. Combine egg yolk, lemon juice and Tabasco sauce.
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the egg yolk mixture to make a firm dough.
Pass through a cookie press (small star makes long straw) onto a cookie sheet or roll on lightly floured surface and/or cut into 1/2 x 3-inch strips.
Bake on greased cookie sheet for 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
