Caramel Icing and Candy
A from-scratch caramel cooked to soft-ball stage that pours as silky icing or sets into chewy candy. A two-purpose recipe straight from a Southern grandmother's index card.
π¨βπ³ Instructions
Brown 3 tablespoons of the sugar in a skillet.
Mix the rest of the ingredients and cook on medium heat.
Add browned sugar and cook to soft ball stage.
Cool slightly.
(For candy, omit the tablespoon of flour.)
