Buttermilk Fudge
Buttermilk Fudge is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. buttermilk, 1 c. butter (not margarine), 1/4 c. light corn syrup, 2 tsp. baking soda and 4 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Put buttermilk, butter, corn syrup, baking soda and sugar into a large 6 to 8-quart pot.
Place on low heat, stirring until sugar is melted.
Cook to 236Β° on candy thermometer or until soft ball forms when dropped into cold water.
Remove from heat.
Cool to lukewarm.
Add nuts and vanilla.
Beat until mixture becomes thick and loses it's gloss.
Pour into buttered 12 x 14-inch pan. Cool.
Cut into squares.
Makes about 3 pounds.
