Bread
Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 tbsp. yeast, 3/4 c. warm water, 1 1/4 c. buttermilk or sour milk, 4 1/2 to 5 c. flour and 1/4 c. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Dissolve yeast in warm water.
Add milk, 2 1/2 cups flour, shortening, sugar, baking powder and salt.
Mix with spoon until well blended, then beat with a spoon about four minutes.
Add remaining flour (dough should be soft and sticky).
Out and knead about three minutes. Shape dough into a loaf and place in a greased pan.
Let it rise about one hour until double.
Bake at 425Β° for 30 to 35 minutes.
Makes one loaf.
