Blanc Mange
Blanc Mange is an easy dinner. Made with 3 c. milk (2 1/4 c. hot, 3/4 c. cold), 4 tbsp. sugar (2 tbsp. with cornstarch, 2 tbsp. with egg), 1/3 c. cornstarch, 1 egg and 1/2 tsp. vanilla, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Scald 2 1/4 cups of milk.
Combine and blend well 3/4 cup milk, 2 tablespoons sugar and cornstarch.
Add to hot milk.
Stir and cook over low heat (or double boiler) until thickened.
Beat egg with rest of sugar.
Pour some hot mixture into egg and then back into hot liquid.
Stir until it thickens.
Cool; add vanilla. Chill.
Can serve with crushed fruit, chocolate, melted chocolate, brown sugar for butterscotch.
