Angel Biscuits
Angel Biscuits is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. active dry yeast, 1/4 c. warm water, 5 c. all purpose flour, 1/3 c. sugar and 3 tsp. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

In a small bowl, soften the yeast with the warm water and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
With a pastry cutter, cut in the shortening until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Add the yeast mixture and the buttermilk and stir well until combined.
On a floured board, knead about 2 minutes or until smooth, adding more flour as needed.
Roll out the dough to 1/2 inch thickness.
Using a 2-1/2 inch biscuit cutter, cut out 24 biscuits.
At this point either bake the biscuits or, for a roll-like texture, let them rise 45 minutes and then bake at 450Β° for about 8 minutes.
