Yam and Apple Casserole

Cut yams and apples in 1/2-inch slices.
Layer in buttered 3-quart deep casserole dish, starting with apples and ending with yams.
Combine butter and water in medium saucepan.
Bring to boil. Mix sugar and cornstarch, adding just enough cold water to make a paste.
Add to boiling water mixture, stirring constantly.
Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
Pour over yams.
Bake at 350Β° for 50 to 60 minutes or until apples are done.
