Williamsburg, Virginia Pound Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 sticks butter, 2 c. sugar, 12 egg yolks, 12 egg whites, stiffly beaten and 4 c. flour, sifted twice, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Do not use electric mixer.
This is from the 1600's and hands were used.
In a large bowl or on tray, soften butter by kneading with hands.
Gradually work in sugar.
Add egg yolks, one at a time.
Add beaten egg whites and flour alternately to creamed mixture.
Add flavorings (there was no vanilla then).
Bake at 350Β° until done.
Can be made in small loaf pans for gifts.
