Sweet-Sour Pork
Sweet-Sour Pork is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 lb. lean pork shoulder, cut in 2 x 1/2-inch strips, 1 lb. (no. 2) can pineapple chunks, drained (2 1/2 c.), 1/4 c. brown sugar, 2 tbsp. cornstarch and 1/4 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Brown pork; add 1/3 cup water.
Cover and simmer until tender, about 1 hour.
Drain pineapple, reserving syrup.
Combine sugars and cornstarch.
Add pineapple, syrup, soy sauce and salt.
Add to pork; stir until thick.
Add pineapple, green pepper and onion. Cook 2 minutes.
Serve over hot rice or fried noodles and extra soy sauce.
