Sweet-Sour Cabbage
Sweet-Sour Cabbage is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 medium head (1/2 lb.) red cabbage, 4 slices bacon, diced, 1/4 c. packed brown sugar, 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour and 1/2 c. water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Prepare and cook 5 cups shredded cabbage.
Add 2 tablespoons vinegar or lemon juice to cooking salted water.
Cook bacon dices until crisp and drain.
Drain fat from skillet, reserving 1 tablespoon.
Stir sugar and flour into fat in skillet.
Stir in water, vinegar, salt, pepper and onion.
Stir until thickened (about 5 minutes).
Stir bacon and sauce mixture into hot cabbage in saucepan.
Heat thoroughly.
Garnish with additional diced bacon.
Yields 6 servings.
