Swedish Heirloom Cookies
Swedish Heirloom Cookies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. shortening, 1/2 c. margarine, softened, 1 c. sifted powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp. salt and 2 c. all-purpose flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Cream the shortening and margarine at medium speed of electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add 1 cup powdered sugar and salt. Mix well. Stir in flour. Add water, vanilla and almonds, stirring well. Shape dough into 1-inch balls.
Place on ungreased cookie sheets and flatten. Bake at 325Β° for 12 to 15 minutes or until done.
Dredge warm cookies in powdered sugar, if you prefer. Yields 4 dozen.
