Rinse the peas and drain well.

Set aside.

Peel the potatoes and cut into 1/4-inch cubes.

Set aside in cold water.

Cut carrots into 1/4-inch dice.

Set aside.

Heat oil in a kettle and add the sausage pieces.

Cook about 1 minute and add the onion and garlic.

Cook, stirring, about 1 minute.

Add the carrots.

Cook, stirring, about 2 minutes.

Drain the peas and potatoes and add them.

Add the chicken broth, salt and pepper.

Bring to boil and cook about 1 hour and 15 minutes or until peas have become quite liquid.

Serve hot.
