Spicy Autumn Applesauce
Spicy Autumn Applesauce is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 lb. apples, peeled and sliced, 1 3/4 c. water, 1/4 c. lemon juice, 1 1/3 c. sugar and 1/4 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Bring water, lemon juice, sugar and salt to a boil until sugar is dissolved.
Add apples, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg; cook about 10 minutes until apples are almost tender.
Turn off heat, but leave on burner, cover and let stand for 10 minutes to plump and finish cooking.
Use a hand potato masher, food processor or food mill to sieve apples to desired consistency (I prefer hand masher).
