Spiced Red Cabbage(Rode Kool)
Spiced Red Cabbage(Rode Kool) is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 small red cabbage, 1/4 c. butter or margarine, 3 cloves, 2 cooking apples and 1 tbsp. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage.
Cut the cabbage in halves. Remove the core.
Wash and shred cabbage very thinly.
Put a little butter or margarine in a saucepan and 1 cup of water. Add the red cabbage, cloves, peeled, cored and sliced apples and simmer the vegetables with a tight fitting lid on the pan for 3/4 hour.
Add the rest of the butter or margarine, sugar and some vinegar and simmer for another 5 minutes.
