South Georgia Cabbage(By Martha Cass) is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 medium head cabbage, 3/4 c. chopped celery, 3 cloves garlic, minced, 1/2 c. chopped green peppers and 2 tbsp. melted margarine, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Cut cabbage into quarters or eighths and cook in a little salted water for about 7 minutes or until tender.
Discard water. Chop cabbage fine.
Melt margarine in covered saucepan and put celery, peppers and garlic in pan.
Cook over real low heat until vegetables are tender.
Mix with chopped cabbage.
Now stir in the rich milk, the shredded cheese and the salt and pepper as needed. Put into buttered baking dish and bake at 300Β° for 1/2 hour. Sprinkle buttered bread crumbs on top and cook for another 15 minutes.
