Shoo-Fly Pie
Shoo-Fly Pie is an impressive dinner. Made with 1/2 c. light molasses, 1 egg yolk, beaten, 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 3/4 c. boiling water and 3/4 c. all-purpose flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.

Pour 3/4 cup hot water over soda in small bowl. Stir to dissolve. Beat in molasses and egg yolk, combining well.
In medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt and spices, mixing well. Add butter.
Using fingers, rub into flour mixture to make crumbs. Sprinkle 1/4 crumb mixture in bottom of pie shell. Top with 1/3 molasses mixture.
Continue layering, ending with crumb mixture on top.
Preheat oven to 350Β°. Bake pie for 35 minutes or until filling is firm to the touch when lightly pressed with fingertip. Serve pie warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
