Place a layer of 1/3 of the potatoes in a buttered 2-quart casserole; cover with 1/2 of the onion slices.

Combine flour, salt and pepper; sprinkle 1/2 the mixture over the onion layer; dot with 1/2 the butter.

Repeat layers, ending with a potato layer.

Pour hot milk over all and dust lightly with paprika. Cover and bake in a 350Β° oven for about 1 1/4 hours or until potatoes are very tender and milk is nearly all absorbed.
