Sauerbraten Meatballs
Sauerbraten Meatballs is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 lb. ground beef, 3/4 c. soft bread crumbs, 1/4 c. finely chopped onion, 2 tbsp. bottled lemon juice and 2 tbsp. butter, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Combine meat, bread crumbs, onion, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 2 tablespoons water, salt and pepper.
Shape into 1-inch balls.
Brown meat balls in small amount of hot fat.
Remove meat balls; add 2 1/4 cups water to drippings and bring to boil.
Stir in bouillon cubes, sugar, raisins, 1/4 cup bottled lemon juice and ginger snap crumbs.
Add meat balls; cook, uncovered, over low heat 10 minutes.
Turn meat balls, spooning sauce over.
Cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
