Sauerbraten
Sauerbraten is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 lb. bottom round steak or beef shoulder, garlic (if desired), 2 tsp. salt, pepper and 2 c. vinegar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Rub meat with a cut surface of garlic, salt and pepper.
Place in bowl.
Heat vinegar, water, onion, bay leaves, peppercorns and sugar together, but do not boil.
Pour hot mixture over meat; cover bowl and let stand in cool compartment of refrigerator 4 to 8 days, turning meat each day.
