Preheat oven to 350Β°.
Grease tube pan.
Heat milk, shortening and 1/4 cup of water until very warm.
Blend 1 1/3 cups flour with sugar, salt and yeast in large mixing bowl.
Blend warm liquids into the flour mixture.
Beat with mixer on medium about 2 minutes.
Gradually add about 2/3 cup of flour and eggs.
Beat at high speed about 2 minutes.
Add remaining flour (2 cups).
Batter will be thick, but not stiff.
Cover and let dough rise in a warm draft-free place until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Beat dough down with spatula.
