Sift flour once.

Add baking soda and spices then sift 3 times.

Cream butter thoroughly, add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy.

Add eggs and prunes.

Then add flour alternately with milk, a small amount at a time.

Beat well after each addition.

Bake in two layer pans at 350Β° for 25 to 30 minutes.

Spread caramel frosting between layers and on top and sides.

May also be served unfrosted.
