Prize Winning Bread
Prize Winning Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 pkg. yeast, 1 c. warm water, 1 tsp. sugar, 2 1/2 c. hot tap water and 1 c. cold water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Mix the first 3 ingredients and set aside.
Mix 6 tablespoons sugar, salt, potato flakes and shortening together.
Then add the hot water.
When shortening is melted, add the cold water and yeast mixture.
Add 4 cups flour and beat good.
Then add 2 or more cups flour and stir until very thick.
Then I gradually add the rest of the flour.
This works real good in large mixer with bread hook. Turn out on floured board and knead.
Let rest in oiled bowl until doubled, then put in bread pans.
Let rise another 1/2 hour.
Makes 4 loaves.
Bake at 350Β° for 45 minutes.
