Portuguese Sweet Bread
Portuguese Sweet Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 dozen eggs, 3 cups sugar, 3 pkg. dry yeast, 1/2 cup warm water and 3 cups warm water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Beat eggs and sugar together.
Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water.
In large bowl combine flour, salt and nutmeg.
Make a well in center.
Pour in egg and sugar mixture, dissolved yeast, warm water and condensed milk.
Begin mixing with hands and working in butter.
Mix very well.
Dough will be sticky.
Cover and let rise. Turn onto floured board.
Shape into loaf, rolls, etc.
Let rise again. Brush tops with beaten egg. Bake at 325Β°. Rolls: 15 minutes.
Loaf: 20 to 25 minutes.
Dough can also be used for doughnuts or cinnamon rolls.
Yield
7 to 8 loaves.
