Cook sugar, water and syrup in large saucepan until soft ball stage (235° to 240°).
Add peanuts and butter.
Continue cooking until hard ball stage (300° to 310°).
Keep stirring.
Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat.
Add baking soda and vanilla, stirring rapidly.
