Old Fashioned Fudge
Old Fashioned Fudge is an easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. cocoa, 3 c. sugar, 1 can carnation milk, 1 stick margarine (blue bonnet) and vanilla, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Combine cocoa, sugar and milk in saucepan.
Remove ingredients from sides of pan before cooking.
When mixture begins to get hot, add margarine, stirring constantly.
After mixture has boiled up in the pan and gone back down, begin testing for doneness by dropping a few drops of fudge mixture in cool water. When you can make a ball from the mixture, then remove pan from heat.
Have 3 buttered platters ready to pour the mixture in. Add a teaspoon of vanilla to each platter.
Let set for about 5 minutes.
Beat each platter with upward strokes to allow cooling. Beat until mixture loses shine and will hold shape when dropped by teaspoonfuls on waxed paper.
Recipe yields 60 pieces.
