Old-Fashioned Butter Crunch
Old-Fashioned Butter Crunch is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 to 2 c. slivered almonds, toasted, 1 c. butter, 1 1/4 c. sugar, 2 tbsp. light corn syrup and 2 tbsp. water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.

Toast almonds at 350° until golden, 5 to 10 minutes.
Cool. Reserve 1 cup and blend to almost dust (1/2 to 1 cup).
Melt butter in a large, heavy saucepan on medium heat (3-quart pan).
Cook the sugar, corn syrup and water to hard crack stage (300°).
Stir often.
When done, mixture will pull from side of pan.
Remove from heat.
Add 1 cup slivered almonds.
Pour into a 13 x 9-inch buttered Teflon type pan.
When almost cool, run scraper around sides of pan; use heat resistant scraper.
Cool completely and turn out on waxed paper.
