Molasses Sugar Cookies
Molasses Sugar Cookies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 c. shortening or 1 1/2 sticks margarine, 1 c. sugar, 1/4 c. molasses (dark), 1 egg and 2 tsp. baking soda, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Melt shortening in large saucepan over low heat; remove from heat and let cool.
Add sugar, molasses and egg; mix well.
Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and salt; add to the first mixture and mix well until flour disappears.
Chill.
(This can be mixed, left in refrigerator overnight and baked the next day.)
Form into 1-inch balls, roll in granulated sugar and place on a greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
Bake in a 375Β° oven for 10 minutes.
Cool on cookie sheet for two or three minutes.
Finish cooling on wire rack.
