Molasses-Nut Bread
Molasses-Nut Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 egg, 1/2 c. molasses, 1/3 c. sugar, 3 tbsp. butter or margarine, melted and 1 1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Combine molasses, sugar, butter margarine, lemon rind and lemon juice mixing bowl, beating well. Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt; add to egg mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
Mix well after each addition.
Stir in pecans. Spoon batter in a greased and floured
1/2 x 4 1/2 x 3-inch loaf pan, and bake at 350Β° minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove loaf from pan and let cook completely.
Yields 1 loaf.
