Milk Bread
Milk Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. milk, 1 c. crisco, 3 pkg. yeast, 1 c. potatoes, mashed (instant flakes) and 2 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Heat milk and shortening; cool.
In a large bowl, dissolve yeast.
Stir in 1/4 cup sugar from measurement and 1/2 cup warm water.
Let stand 5 minutes.
Add sugar, salt, flour, mashed potatoes and milk to yeast mixture.
Blend all together.
(Dough will be stiff.)
Knead on floured board until smooth and elastic, about 5 to 8 minutes.
Put dough in oiled bowl and cover.
Let rise until double in size.
Punch dough down again.
When full, shape into breads.
Place in oiled pans in warm place and let rise until full.
Bake at 325Β° for 45 minutes.
