Maui Onion Soup
Maui Onion Soup is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 5 c. thinly sliced maui onions, 3 tbsp. butter, 3 tbsp. flour, 1 c. bourbon and 2 qt. beef bouillon, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Saute onions in butter slowly until soft and golden brown. Stir in flour to form paste.
Add bourbon and stir until smooth. Gradually add beef bouillon and basil; simmer for 40 minutes.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Mix garlic and butter spread on French bread.
Toast on cookie sheet in oven.
Ladle soup into ovenproof bowls.
