Lucy's Biscuits(Tennessee Ridge)
Lucy'S Biscuits(Tennessee Ridge) is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 5 c. self-rising flour (martha white), 1/2 tsp. soda, 1 c. lard or crisco, 2 c. buttermilk and 1 pkg. yeast, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside.
In a large bowl, put 4 cups of flour and baking soda.
Cut in lard until it looks like coarse crumbs.
Mix together remaining 1 cup of flour with buttermilk.
Add yeast mixture.
Add buttermilk and yeast mixture to flour and mix well.
Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead.
Place in a well-greased bowl, covered, in refrigerator.
Biscuits are ready to bake at any time.
When ready to bake, roll and cut as many as you want.
Bake in a 425Β° oven for 15 minutes.
Yields around 3 dozen biscuits.
