Kitchen Floor Pickles
Kitchen Floor Pickles is an moderately easy dinner. Made with small to medium cucumbers (enough to fill gal. jar), 2 tbsp. salt, 1 1/2 c. whole pickling spice, 4 c. sugar and 2 tbsp. alum, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Pack cucumbers in glass or plastic gallon jar.
Pack tightly and add salt, alum, pickling spice and vinegar.
Fill jar rest of way with water.
Put lid on tightly and let stand 1 month. Remove from jar and wash off pickles.
Cut into slices 1/4-inch thick.
Put back in jar and sprinkle with sugar alternating layers, first pickles, then sugar, then pickles, etc.
Put lid on and shake well until sugar is turned into liquid.
Put in refrigerator and keep there.
