Jill's Challah *
Jill'S Challah * is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 pkg. yeast, 4 tsp. salt, 1/3 to 1/2 c. honey (1/2 c. yields sweet challah), 1 3/4 c. hot water and 2 c. flour + 4 c. approximately, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Combine first 4 ingredients and stir.
Add 2 cups flour, oil and eggs.
Start adding additional flour.
Recipe will use approximately 6 cups.
Keep adding and kneading until dough is no longer sticky.
Put into an oiled bowl.
Cover and leave in a warm spot until doubled in quantity (about 1 hour).
Remove from bowl. Punch and divide into sections for braiding.
Braid into one large or 2 small Challahs.
Allow to double in bulk.
Brush with egg yolks, thinned with one tablespoon of water and bake in preheated oven at 350Β° for about 50 minutes.
