Italian Biscotti
Italian Biscotti is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 6 eggs, 1 c. butter or margarine, 1 3/4 c. sugar, 2 tbsp. anise extract or oil and 3 tbsp. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Cream butter and sugar thoroughly.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating mixture until light and fluffy.
Add vanilla, anise and nuts.
Add flour sifted with baking powder and salt.
Mix well. Knead like bread.
Shape into 6 to 7 loaves.
Brush top of loaves with 1 beaten egg.
Bake 30 to 40 minutes at 350Β°.
Remove from oven; cut diagonally into small pieces.
Return to oven.
Toast until light brown.
