Hungarian Goulash
Hungarian Goulash is an impressive dinner. Made with 1/4 c. shortening, 2 lb. beef chuck or round, cut into 1-inch cubes, 1 clove garlic, minced, 1/2 c. chopped onion and 3/4 c. catsup, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Melt shortening in a large skillet.
Add beef, onion and garlic.
Cook and stir until meat is brown and onion is tender. Stir in catsup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, salt, paprika and 1 1/2 cups water.
Cover, simmer for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
Blend flour and 1/4 cup water; stir gradually into meat mixture.
Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
Boil and stir one minute.
Serve over buttered noodles.
Yield
6 to 8 servings.
