Hot Rolls
Hot Rolls is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. milk (scalded), 1/4 c. sugar, 1/4 c. shortening, 1 tsp. salt and 1 cake of yeast, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Combine scalded milk, shortening, sugar, and salt.
Cool to lukewarm, add yeast softened in lukewarm water.
Add beaten egg. Gradually stir in flour to form a soft dough.
Beat vigorously. Cover and let rise in warm place till doubled in bulk or about 2 hours.
Turn out on lightly floured board.
Cut out in desired size, dip in 1/2 butter and 1/2 shortening which has been melted and cooled some.
Let rise 1 1/2 hours in roll pans.
Bake at 400 degrees to 425 degrees until brown.
