Honey Whole Wheat Bread
Honey Whole Wheat Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. whole wheat flour, 1/2 c. nonfat dry milk, 1 tbsp. salt, 2 pkg. active dry yeast and 3 c. water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Combine first 4 ingredients in a large mixer bowl.
Heat next 3 ingredients in saucepan over low heat until warm, not hot.
Pour warm liquid over flour mixture.
Blend at low speed 1 minute, then at medium speed 2 minutes.
By hand, stir in 1 cup additional whole wheat flour and 4 to 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour.
Knead on floured surface about 5 minutes.
Place dough in greased bowl. Cover and let rise 45 to 60 minutes until light and doubled.
Punch down dough.
Divide in half.
Shape each half into a loaf by rolling the dough to a 14 x 7-inch rectangle.
Starting with 7-inch side, roll up jelly roll fashion.
Place in greased loaf pans. Cover and let rise 40 to 45 minutes, until light and doubled.
Bake at 375Β° for 40 to 45 minutes until loaf sounds hollow when lightly tapped.
Depending on oven, may have to loosely cover with aluminum the last 15 minutes or so.
Remove from pans immediately.
Cool on wire rack before slicing.
