Place butter in microsafe bowl, breaking it up into pieces. Microwave at High power for about 45 seconds.
Cover with wax paper to prevent spattering.

Combine flour, bran, oats and baking soda.
Stir into butter mixture.
Press out half of dough into an 8 x 8-inch microsafe dish.
Shield corners of dish with foil to prevent overcooking.

Cool before cutting into bars.
Repeat with second batch of dough.
