Golden Baked Onion Casserole
Golden Baked Onion Casserole is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 6 medium onions, sliced thin, 12 oz. swiss cheese, grated, 1 can cream of chicken soup, 1/2 c. milk and 1/4 tsp. pepper, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Preheat oven to 350Β°.
Melt 1 stick margarine in a large pot. Add all sliced onions. Saute until onions are soft and transparent. Do not overcook. Using a slotted spoon, transfer onions to a 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking dish (I use Pyrex).
Mix together the soup, milk and pepper until smooth. Pour over the onions. Top with grated cheese.
Melt remaining stick of margarine.
Dip one side of sliced bread in margarine.
Put on top of casserole, buttered side up.
Continue with remaining bread slices, covering casserole completely and overlapping bread slices.
Uncovered, for 30 to 40 minutes or until bread is golden brown. Serve hot.
