German Cocoa Cake
German Cocoa Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. self-rising flour, 1/2 c. butter crisco, 3 tbsp. cocoa, 2 whole eggs and 1 tsp. vanilla, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Cream shortening and sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy; beat in vanilla.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
Add self-rising flour, alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour. Beat until smooth; add hot coffee and stir until blended.
Pour batter into greased and floured cake pans, or one oblong 12 x 9 1/2-inch pan.
Bake at 325Β° for 30 to 40 minutes.
Frost with Coconut-Pecan Frosting.
