German Chocolate Cake
German Chocolate Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. (4 oz.) baker's german's sweet chocolate, 1/2 c. boiling water, 2 c. flour, 1 tsp. baking soda and 1 c. butter or margarine, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Chocolate in boiling water.
Mix flour and soda. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each.
Blend in vanilla and chocolate.
Alternately mixture and buttermilk, beating each addition until smooth.
Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; fold into batter.
Pour into three 9-inch lined on bottoms with waxed paper.
At 350Β° for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean.
Immediately run spatula around pans between cakes and sides.
Cool in pans 15 minutes.
Remove from pans; remove paper and finish cooling on racks.
Spread filling and frosting between layers and over top.
Frost with Coconut-Pecan Filling and Frosting.
