Fried Green Tomatoes
Fried Green Tomatoes is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 green tomatoes, 2 c. vegetable oil, 1 1/2 c. self-rising flour, 1 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. pepper, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Wash and slice tomatoes (approximately 1/4-inch slices).
In a mixing bowl, mix buttermilk and eggs.
Add half the salt and pepper and 1 tablespoon of flour; mix well.
Place tomato slices in the buttermilk mixture.
Preheat the oil to 350Β° in a heavy skillet or fryer.
Mix the remaining ingredients in a mixing bowl. Toss tomato slices in flour. Then place in oil and fry until golden brown, turning two or three times.
Cook until crisp and drain on paper towels.
Serve immediately.
