French Onion Soup
French Onion Soup is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 stick butter or margarine, 1 1/2 lb. thin sliced onions (2 large), 1 qt. beef broth, 1 tsp. worcestershire sauce and 1/4 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

In a Dutch oven or small soup pot, melt butter.
Saute onions 10 minutes, then cover and cook on low for 10 minutes.
Add broth and seasonings.
Bring to a boil.
Preheat broiler.
Place cheese on toast and broil until cheese is brown, about 3 minutes maximum. Serve with soup.
(You can also use small ovenproof soup bowls, place bread on top of soup, then the cheese and broil.
