French Country-Style Beef Stew is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 lb. beef stew meat, cut in 1-inch cubes, 1/4 c. flour, 2 tbsp. oil, 2 (14 1/2 oz.) cans del monte tomatoes and 1 (13 oz.) can beef broth, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Combine meat and flour in a plastic bag.
Toss to coat evenly. In a 6 quart pot, brown meat in oil.
Add salt and pepper to taste, if desired.
Add remaining ingredients except mustard. Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat.
Cover and simmer about 1 hour or until beef is tender.
Stir occasionally.
Blend in mustard.
If too thin, add a little Wondra flour to thicken.
Serve over rice.
